So proud of our lovely Khit, who has just taken her final bow in West End's Matilda the Musical.

And there’s no resting on laurels… Khit has already been cast as Tessie in the UK Tour of Annie, which opens in Wimbledon this May.

We can’t wait to watch this next chapter unfold. Huge congratulations, Khit - onwards and upwards ⭐️

This might sound a bit mad to anyone who isn’t getting tape requests right now.

It’s great for us to see so many tape requests coming in — it tells us we’re doing our jobs properly and that our clients are being seen.

But, as parents ourselves, we also fully appreciate how tough it can be.

Getting a tired child home from school, resetting their energy, and then trying to bash out three self tapes in one evening, all asking for very different things - that’s a lot. We hear you!

And that’s where self tape lethargy can creep in - because yes, it’s real.

That moment when the tape request comes in and instead of thinking ‘Yay!’ you feel… ‘Argh. Another one.’

But here’s the reframe we really want you to hear.

A self tape isn’t random.
You haven’t been asked for fun.
The client has specifically requested you.

Which means you’re already in the game.

By the time that tape lands in your inbox, you’ve likely been shortlisted down from hundreds… to tens. That’s a huge achievement. Truly.

And it’s also really important to remember this:
Typically, you won’t not get a role because your tape wasn’t good enough.

There are so many factors involved in casting decisions that are completely out of your hands.

None of them reflect your ability.

So instead, try to treat the tape as the project.

See it as a good opportunity to showcase your self‑taping skills.
To practise.
To learn something new.
To try a different approach.

Work on it, do your best, send it — and then move on.

Because if you’re a parent or a young performer getting lots of tape requests but no pencils yet, it’s easy to think, ‘What’s the point?’

The point is this:
You don’t get booked without being seen.
And you don’t get seen without tapes.

A self tape should be treated in exactly the same way as a live casting.
Same preparation.
Same focus.
Same belief.

Because you have to be in it to win it.

So next time a tape comes in, take a breath and try to say:
‘They want me.’
‘I’m still in the running.’
'I made it to the next round!'

Turn the argh into a yay and give it your best shot.

Then on to the next.
